Family First Health held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new dental center, 430 Walnut St., Columbia, on Sept. 17. The event was livestreamed on social media and featured Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center executive director Beverly Shank, who welcomed the new dental center to the Columbia community. Family First Health president/CEO Jenny Englerth, vice president of dental services Dr. LaJuan Mountain, and board chair Rob Bernhard also gave remarks.
The facility provides access to primary dental care for clients of all ages. It offers comprehensive services, including dentures, root canals, traditional restorations, and preventive care with cleanings, X-rays, and sealants. The center has 12 treatment rooms, a team of five dentists, and support staff. Family First Health welcomes all residents in and around Columbia to establish a dental home at the center.
Englerth noted that Family First Health Columbia Dental Center has received strong support from the community, including CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health, which made a major donation of equipment to outfit the treatment rooms. The Pennsylvania Department of Health also provided funds through a primary care grant to support the launch of the site. Additionally, the Family First Health dental team has partnered with the Columbia School District to connect students and their families to the dental center. Visits to the schools to provide preventive care are also slated.
“We welcome you to our site and are proud to be in this community, improving the health of Columbia residents for decades to come,” Englerth remarked.
The dental center complements the existing Family First Health Medical Center, which is located nearby at 369 Locust St., Columbia, and offers primary medical care and integrated behavioral health care. Family First Health is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center that was founded in 1970 and aims to provide accessible, high-quality health care at six locations in Adams, Lancaster, and York counties.
